High Valley Dermatology?s physicians, Dr. Willis and Dr. Sewell, are fellowship trained Mohs micrographic surgeons. This means they are fellows of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), founded by Dr. Fred Mohs. They underwent an additional full year of fellowship training centered on the precise removal of many different skin cancers in a precise and minimally invasive manner. Also important, they are trained in the aesthetic reconstruction of the surgical defects after their removal. Very few doctors in Idaho have received this extra training. For the most common forms of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, this technique offers cure rates of 98% and higher. Although not treated with Mohs micrographic surgery, melanoma is a serious health concern, and Drs. Willis and Sewell are also well-experienced in the treatment and aftercare of patients with melanoma. Some of our other skin cancer treatments include excisional surgery and electrodessication & curettage (ED&C).
